StressLess and look after your mental wellbeing

A free community event where you can learn proven methods to reduce stress and manage anxiety.

Finding life a bit too stressful? Are you time poor, having trouble sleeping or just need to switch off sometimes? 

StressLess is a session for the whole community! Matthew Johnstone, author, illustrator and former creative director of The Black Dog Institute, will talk about proven methods to reduce stress, manage anxiety and lift your mood.

He has combined his own experience living with depression and his creative background in advertising. Matthew has written a series of simple books with his most well-known ‘I Had A Black Dog: It’s Name Was Depression’ becoming the basis of a World Health Organisation campaign about depression. His latest book is StressLess - Proven Methods to Reduce Stress, Manage Anxiety and Lift Your Mood (2019).

Statistics show that mental health is prevalent in our society with one in five (20%) Australians aged 16-85 experiencing a mental illness in any year and almost half (45%) Australians experiencing a mental illness in their lifetime. Looking after our mental wellbeing needs to become a greater priority for us all and learning prevention strategies is a great start.

You will also have the opportunity to talk to relevant service providers on topics such as healthy eating, animal therapy, physical exercise as well as organisations such as EACH, local Community Houses, Eastern Regional Libraries, Eastern Volunteers and NEAMI National.

This event is being held in partnership between Maroondah City Council, EACH, Eastern Regional Libraries and Neami National.
