Important info for motor mechanics

Maroondah City Council is here to help businesses understand their legal obligations when it comes to repairing or maintaining vehicles on Council land, like footpaths and roads.

As a business owner, it's important for you to ensure that your vehicles are parked legally when on council land or roads.

As a guide, businesses should ensure they are not in breach of the below activities:

  • Vehicles parked in a No Stopping Zone, or an area contrary to signage or the Road Rules
  • Vehicles parked not facing the direction of travel
  • Vehicles overstaying in time-restricted areas
  • Unregistered vehicles on Council Land and roads - (vehicles can be legally towed)
  • Vehicles causing a danger or an obstruction to pedestrians or other road users (e.g., this includes parking vehicles across footpaths, or driveways)
  • Vehicles undergoing maintenance or repair on council land when it should be undertaken within the boundaries of the business
  • Vehicles being stored on Council Land and roads
