Suburban Wholefoods - helping us get healthy
Nic and Ben have recently opened Suburban Wholefoods in Kilsyth South. We talked to Nic about their new business.
Tell us about your business. When did you start it and what is it all about?
Hey thank you for taking the time to find out what we are about. We opened Suburban Wholefoods at the end of August 2017 with the vision to provide the healthiest and freshest takeaway food possible to the outer eastern suburbs.
Getting great coffee and healthy food is quick and easy in the city with many options, but finding something fresh and healthy out here we found was rather difficult.
So we thought ... why not provide it.
What inspired you to start your business?
Both Ben and I enjoy keeping fit and active but always found it hard to eat healthy, when we were looking for something quick and easy.
So we had the vision to create this place that served wholesome fresh food.
Our target market isn't gym junkies - it's everybody, from vegan/vegetarian, the average mum and dad looking for a healthy change, somebody looking to start eating better but still enjoying what they eat.
Why did you choose to start/locate your business in Maroondah?
Both Ben and I have lived in a few different areas and have settled in Maroondah - both living in Croydon.
We love the area and look forward to bringing up families in the area.
What is your favourite thing about Maroondah?
It has a very warm welcome feeling whether it be in at the shops or in the parklands and parks.
People are generally very welcoming and we have come across many in our cafe.
What is your favourite Maroondah place to grab a bite to eat or drink?
Other then going to our own shop we really enjoy the Full Pantry in Croydon.
What other City of Maroondah businesses inspire you?
It's a great little business/health hub where we have set up. The Pole Room Fitness, Belinda Carusi Fitness Hub, Melbourne Muscular Therapies, Spartans Gym and Enrg Gym are all within 5 minutes.
What business tip would you give to others?
Have a crack... if you have an idea ...go for it.
